Counting down my remaining time

I’ve just begun sorting out the computer network to close it down for next Sunday, and going through all the old files, old rotas, photos and documents makes me realise how much I have changed the hotel on the IT side.

When I came here 12yrs ago they were using one machine with windows ‘95 that had never been cleaned, maintained or backed up. Now as I start backing up and packing away the remaining network, we have 6 terminals, a 2003 server, private and public wifi network, 3 printers, and all the excess data that comes with and expanding network. I have to say I dragged this company kicking and screaming into the 21st Century, if I do say so myself.

Though it may not have been a perfect ride, with many bumps and bruises along the way, I will fondly look back at my time here, and even if I sometimes think “what have I been doing here”, I know deep down that without me, things could have been a lot worse and more difficult than it ended up being.
