A Change Is As Good As A Rest
I used to think this was rather apt and true, that was till I’ve came visiting my sister for the next week.
Don’t get me wrong. I do enjoy getting away from the humdrum of what is fast becoming ‘normality’. Living back home with my parents is lovely, though a bit sedate. The time to myself, being able to mentally switch off, and having a cooked meal each day is quite blissful. I’ve taken to it like a duck to water you might say. But I could do with a bit more going on through the day, just to keep me interested.
So, I’ve come to spend a week in the country, visiting my sister and her two children.
This wasn’t quite what I meant by more going on in the day. The non-stop noise, the constant rushing around, making sure each child is having enough attention, being harassed by two over excited dogs, and full-on, in-your-face, children’s TV was not the change I was looking for. If I have to hear Micky Mouses Club House again, I may turn to drink!
And this is only the first 8 hours. How I’m going to survive the next 6 days is a task I’m not sure I’m up to.
Though, a change is as good as a rest, I just hope I don’t end up permanently rested and in my grave by the end of it.
